I'm thinking towards a car tire
And I'm hoping that I don't ever say "darkside". You all sound like a bunch of cult members when you talk like that! Trying to get people to go darkside etc. :)
I really wanted to wait till there were many, many people with high miles on a Nomad before considering it. Like 50 nomads with 50,000 miles type of a sample. I wanted to know what long term effects there might be, that don't show up till way down the road. However... I had a CPA do my business taxes this year,(usually do turbo tax and buy their guarantee, plus this is the first year I did private practice full-time) and found that I wasn't withholding enough throughout the year. I charge $85 an hour, but when I'm done with state, IRS and all the other withholding I'm making about what I made at my first job out of Grad School. The end result is, I'm screwed and owe a lot more taxes than I budgeted for. My tire is nearing replacement, and I'm broke. I might get a car tire out of financial necessity, not out of any need to join a cult :) If I do, I'll do some careful video and actual tape measure testing of stopping, small circles, speed through a certain corner, etc. so I can really compare a car tire. Rather than the seat of the pants evaluation that you hear from the cult all the time :) Now don't you all do that "Welcome to the cult" talk like you did to Al, "Chainsaw"!!! The darkside is gonna get you, Dan. We're coming to get you! Resistance is futile. Oh, wait - that was the Borg.

Hi Dan and welcome to.....................nah I can't say it.
Borrow the money and buy a motorcycle tire. You'll get back on your feet [if things are tight] soon. Be true to yourself and your beliefs I say. Car tire or no car tire. JMHO

I'm thinking towards a car tire
i feel for you dan as being a small bussiness owner myself it is very difficult to make a profit with the tax burden we are saddled
with.in 2007 i owed $31,000 in tax and had only managed to pay $16,000.had to refinance my home and borrow enough more to make the tax payment.as for the car tire even though it is not for me i would be interested in your testing results.

Dan, the force of the Dark Side is strong...do not try to fight it, embrace the Dark Side.

Dan, do what makes you comfortable...I see the smileys on your post, but I really dont think there is anything cultish whatsover about car tires on motorcycles...
I decided to stay with an MC tire when I renewed mine at around 6000 miles, but had only had the bike a few weeks and wanted to experience riding it more with the MC tire...I am definitely going to use a car tire next time.. BTW, for what it's worth, "going to the darkside" on another bike forum means to buy a Harley...I don't say that to argue..it's just a fact of how they talk (volusia.com) have fun..ride safely..

Sorry to hear of you guys financial difficulties. As far as the CT, heck I have them on my Impala. They seem to do just fine.

1. The group is focused on (a certain product) whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment. 2. The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members. 3. The group is preoccupied with (saving) money. 4. Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished. 5. Mind-numbing techniques (such as group affirmation and pats on the back) are used to suppress doubts about the group and its (product). 6. The leadership dictates sometimes in great detail how members should (purchase tires). 7. The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its (tires), and members (for example: the (tire) is considered the Messiah or an avatar; the group and/or the (tire) has a special mission to save (motorcycling). 8. The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which causes conflict with the wider society. 9. The group's leader is not accountable to any authorities (as are, for example, military commanders and ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream denominations). 10. The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify means that members would have considered unethical before joining the group (for example: paying shady tire shops to mount tires). 11. The leadership induces guilt feelings in members in order to control them. 12. Members' subservience to the group causes them to cut ties with family and friends, and to give up personal goals and activities that were of interest before joining the group. (Such as looking up motorcycle tires in the backs of magazines). 13. Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group. (Like responding to darkside posts!) 14. Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members (such as darkside forums). |

I say buy the car tire and do all the testing that the cult members didn't do. They just believe in the tire, no real facts. :)

Once you try it you won't go back. I'm on my second one.
We rode through the mountain twisties this past Sunday and that damn truck tire on mine didn't feel any less capable than any motorcycle tire I've ever run. The guys on bike tires had to work hard to keep up. MT

I'm thinking towards a car tire
Personally, I have 40% taken out of all the income I earn coding and developing websites under a DBA.
But at work, I have an extra 100.00 dollars taken out each month for FICA. I usually end up either getting a little back or having to pay a little. Sheeeesh....just get the tire Dan.
