Trunk mounted to my own designed rack

I've posted before about designing a rack to hold a trunk that would leave the grab rails in place. I did make such a rack, and made some brackets that lower the grab rails a bit so that the trunk wouldn't be too high.

I mounted the trunk to the rack and I like its placement. It seems about right to me, and I like the look of the stock grab rails still being there.

The trunk isn't painted yet and I was just photoshopping some paint on it. I think I went too large with the silver area, plus I didn't know how to make curves with the pin stripes, so the corners are too angular. It should have curved corners to the silver area. I'll have to keep trying paint schemes to see what I like.

Here it is

More photos Dan... more photos. Looks good so far though. The sharp corners of the silver looks like the trunk has sharp angular corners too. Maybe it does; can't tell.

I wouldn't be so sure that the trunk wouldn't look good all in silver with just a slight amount of pinstriping in two colors. But again; hard to tell from one photo.

I have an '04 which is before they put the bigger/better backrests with sturdy handrails on the Nomads.

Good job though. Can't wait to see the finished job.

Looks good Dan. All silver with two color pinstripes is my vote.

Cruiser, here is a photo of just the rack. I also made some small shackles to lower the back of the grab rails.

Looks nice Dan. I would never have another bike without a trunk. Mine holds lots of beer.

It does look good Dan, and I wish I would have figured out a way to keep my grab rails, because they are sharp, but the wife says she don't need them anyway.

Looks very nice. I am very spoiled with my trunk. Instead of painting mine I'm thinking of getting a chap to hide the off color.
