Fuel Processor?

I installed the TFi unit about a month ago on my '07 Nomad. I bought it only for the pinging I was getting with the 87 and 89 octane. I have no intake mods, yet, and my stock exhaust is highly modded. Fabbed pipes to remove the Goat bladder and a crossover to connect both sides of the exhaust. Mufflers debaffled, actually the rear of the muffler is empty, as the previous owner drilled a bunch of holes around the opening. Anyway, after I installed the TFi and set it to the instruction settings, it seemed too much. I turned pots 1 and 2 down a bit. Runs really good, but I still have to run 92 octane. I can't get rid of the ping. I tried turning #1 pot up to 4 or 5 o'clock, but it still pinged. My mileage dropped from about 43 mpg to about 37 mpg. If I could run 87, I wouldn't mind that decrease.

Thanks,
Kurt

Hey... which TFI model number for the '02 Nad? FI2050 ST or FI1025? What's the difference between the two? Thanks!

I believe the ST model is plug and play, the other is spliced into the wiring.

Fuel Processor?

How noticeable is the rpm increase with pot 1, I get no increase only a drop in rpm if I turn it far enough clockwise. I have a super open intake and V&H duels. My fuel mileage is in the 40's and she runs real good I guess she is rich from the factory

Do you happen to have a tach?

If so lock the throttle at 1,500 and set all pots to off, then start with pot 1 alone to find best RPM.

Think of PING as a gremlin with a BFH and a sharp cold chisel.

I get it now. Plug 'n play or solder the wires. I like the first choice!

Checking Ebay the prices fluctuate, depending on the model bike listed, yet the part number remains the same. That doesn't make sense. This may sound silly, but isn't there one FI-2050ST controller or are there different versions using that model number?? ???

Mac
I did the tach thing and all I get after turning the #1 pot is a drop in rpm around the 2 o'clock position never an increase
