I would like to quiet down the bike as these are LOUD pipes. Is there a trick without compromising the fuel economy or power?

If I had a cake or anything like that I'm gonna eat it to. I never understood that expression. Maybe I over thought it.

I know Kawhead. It is kind of a "deep" metaphor for you ...

It means you can't have both. ::)

Don't thank me. that's what I'm here for! :-*

That's a good idea..

I run V&H baggers and don't think they are all that loud, but then my riding style is slow. You can mock up a slew if stuffings sheet metal wrap, glass wrap combinations for both. Wood stove gaskets in different diameters (rope) wound on tight, loose, caped in sheet metal, or buy the Ulitmate baffels, which are probably the loudest possible.

Me, I just trained my right wrist.

I don't think the V&H pipes are that loud either, but on Gadgets fixit site there is a how to there on making a set of quite baffles.

You can use the cake or biscuits as baffles that ought to quiet them down

Well, I would have given you a good karma point, if we still did that kinda stuff, for your vein effort. I gave the stupid metaphor a good ten minutes of research and indeed it is as you said cain't have it both ways. But DANGIT! You can't have it and eat it too, and if you don't have it you still can't eat it either!

I have this picture in my mind of a baker selling or giving me a cake and saying you can't eat it too. AIN"T gonna happen. I can produce hundreds of people who will swear on their kids eyes that Kawhead never in his life ever let a cake go bad from not eating it.

Maybe it's the rebellious capitalist in me that makes me think this way. I was raise by a Mauist, Stallinist, Lennonist, FDR New Deal loving egocentric Ahole. Right now its Johny Walker Black on ice making me think this way.

I think I done hijack somebodies thread ::)

When I bought my bike it had Baggers that had been on quite a long time. I went to the Harley dealer and got a muffler repack kit-- basically some kind of dense fiber.

I pulled the baffles, wrapped them in the muffler wool (had to use a good pair of scissors to cut it since it was too long), and put them back in.

It didn't quiet them down a lot but it did some. I was satisfied anyway.

I overlapped the wrap a little bit and put on three wraps of masking tape to hold the wrap. That way when the masking tape burned away the overlapped wrap would loosen up and fill the void between the baffle and the muffler.

Mac also has a very good point, watch your throttle hand and it can make a big difference.
