How many people ride with a sidearm? Sometimes when I'm riding in a new area, I find myself in some rather unsavory places. It makes me feel very exposed and uncomfortable at times.
Mississippi laws are clear about firearms in your vehicle, (its considered a extension of your home) but I'm not sure if this also applies to a motorcycle. We do however, have a concealed weapons permit, which I am checking into. Has anybody dealt with this issue, ride with a pistol? All thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

I'm not sure how many guys will fess up, but I will. I carry most of the time. I have a concealed weapon license. Actually, I'm a certified instructor as well.
I generally carry a 1911. Usually not a full sized one. Strong side outside the waistband holster, with my shirt out and covering it. I also sometimes carry a Kahr PM-9. It will fit in my vest pocket, or the pocket of the mustang bib on my tank. I will usually transfer it to my pocket when leaving the bike when its in the bib pocket.

As Chuck noted, lots do but few will admit it. Most have CCW permits that do pack a sidearm.
Except Mac but he marches to a different tune. :-)

Doesn't Mac have a 50 mounted to his crash bars? :)
I don't at the present time but will be getting my concealed carry this year.

Ron,
As much Iron Butt riding as you do, just be careful of all the different states you ride through and their carry laws.

I have a CCW but when riding with a group I very seldom carry. When I'm by myself I always carry.I want to be prepared if I brake down in the middle of nowhere and a truck load of those Deliverance type red necks pull up with a twinkle in their eyes.

Most States include a motorcycle in their definition of a "motor vehicle'
The following is found in USC Title 18 -MOTOR VEHICLE Includes an automobile, automobile truck, automobile wagon, motorcycle, or any other self-propelled vehicle designed for running on land but not on rails. 18 USC MS State law makes it clear you can carry a firearm in a motor vehicle. So, if you are carrying it in your "bags", you are within the law. However, carrying it while sitting "on" the motor vehicle is another question. I would not think it would be to hard to ck with local PDs to find out. Also - if you do get a concealed carry permit, remember it will not be recognized by all States.

Check local laws, but in TX we have a MPA that covers your vehicle like your home similar to yours, but you need to get off your bike sometime - thus nice to have your CHL.
I've ridden both with IWB and a fanny pack (scrote tote actually). Always trying to figure what's best for the situation. Luckily I do have driver's back rest that keeps my shirt down while riding. It's been too hot here lately to enjoy riding (been 104 all week) so haven't got out much this summer.

Like the old saying goes..............It's better to have it and not need it, than it is to need it and not have it! ;)
I do have the concealed weapons permit, but as stated, you need to verify which states honor your permit.

Just FYI. The old .30 carbine with a paratrooper stock and 2 30 rd. mags fillled with CorBon ammo fit the Nomad bags perfectly.

I have an AZ concealed carry permit, even though one is no longer required to carry concealed in AZ. I still wanted one because it is valid in something like 33 other states, but not California - so I did not bring it with me . I'm in So Cal right now, on my way to the Redwoods Rally.
I do a lot of riding in remote areas, anything outside of the greater Phoenix area is remote. You never know who you might run into in remote places.

In Canada..its against the law to carry a concealed weapon. I would imagine it would be extremely difficult to get a permit too. If your an American and you cross the border with a weapon..expect some rapid jail time!
