A couple of friends have the V&H, I think they sound awesome just the way they came from the factory.

Removing the packing from the baffles or remove the baffles. Hope you have ear plugs.

You can also remove the packing and wrap the baffle with sheet metal and hold it in place with gear clamps. Gives the bike a nice deep sound.

You guys are amazing! I don't criticize because of choice of pipes (it's happened to me and I don't like it) but don't you get a headache from the db's?

I ran without the baffles a bit, and I tried the baffles without any fiberglass, and both were too loud for me.
I ended up using a tighter fiberglass wrapping which worked out fine. What I used was Frost King fiberglass pipe wrapping tape, and wrapped the baffles with many layers as tight as I could get them, and stuck a bit of tape on the end to keep it together until they were in. It took three rolls total to do both baffles. Previously I'd done this using only two rolls and they were pretty much the same as the factory V&H wrap as far as sound. Wrapping them tighter made them a bit louder when on the gas, but I can still ride quietly if I baby the throttle and short shift the gears. |

So what is the sound difference between baffles in w/o packing and baffles out? I have them out right now but I'v heard its not a good idea to run w/o baffles. I love the sound though. I haven't tried baffles in without packing.

Cabby; I found that without the baffles it has a loud, hollow sound, with the baffles it gives it a deeper rumble tone, and I felt more torque from the motor also.
