So I tried to mount my marvellous hitch the other day and realized the L bracket is hitting my exhaust bracket. Anyone offer suggestion? I think Chuckster's hitch might not have same problem as it appears to be designed differently.
I am attaching pics and illustrated in yellow where the hitch bracket hits exhaust bracket.
Just wondering, what kind of exhaust do you have? That might be important for others and Marvellous to know.
I didn't have those issues doing my install but my exhaust mounts are totally different (both the OE ones and lower priced Cobra slash).
This a picture (left side because the right side photo didn't focus). I did have to get different bolts as some of them were hitting the larger exhaust.

I have Chuckster's hitch, and FP 2-1, and I didn't have any issues at all.

I had a similar clearance issue with my Marvella's hitch when I added the Cobra Tri-ovals. I flipped the two brackets upside down, did a little grinding to clear the back side of the bags, re-drilled some holes, bolted it all back on, and hit the road. Not the best solution, but it works.

Thanks however, you don't have a separate bracket and it's nowhere near as big as what I have. I am surprised that there is no disclaimer on their website as it clearly won't fit. I have been playing phone tag with Jason (I think) and curious what response I will get.
I will say Chuckster has great communication! We have been communicating and he provided pictures. I am confident his hitch will fit my bike with my exhaust.

Thanks I actually have a FP 2-1 and just waiting til I take the bike off road. I will be purchasing Chuckster's hitch to mount with it this winter.

I've been extremely happy with mine. Pull a smallish cargo trailer often, and have pulled my brothers pop up a few times. Very well made, and when you take the receiver and ball off, you only know it's there if you are looking for it.

Marvellous hitch OR Chuckster's hitch ?? I have stock exhaust and plan to keep it, thought my money would be better spent on cargo capacity. How do they differ? and I assume both require removal for tire change, so what would be best for me to remove for when I take it in for tires?
Also I have never towed anything with a bike. I was thinking of getting a flat trailer and making it into something ( I like to tinker) Or should I just get the Harbor freight black plastic one and leave well enough alone. Your Thoughts Please. Pics would be nice for ideas. Thank you

Don't have to remove the Chuckster's for tire change, at least not at the shops I've taken it to.

Thanks, The Marvellous hitch, posts say you must remove for tire change. And the Chucksters is cheaper. But better or the same?? Is the Chucksers powder coated?

I communicated with Chuck and he was great sending pics of how his mounts - it shouldn't be a problem. I will be purchasing his. I played phone tag with Marvellous and gave up. I also think that if you jack the bike up high enough you can get the tire out without removing either hitch but I could be wrong. I was able to remove my rear tire without removing saddle bag brackets.

You don't have to remove the Marvella's hitch to pull the rear wheel.
You raise the bike on a lift, remove the shocks and drop the swingarm

OK, walk to the rear of your bike, right behind rear tire. sit on your favorite bucket or stool.
See the bar that goes across behind the wheel that fastens just under the saddlebag? Chuckster's hitch replaces that bar with a cool new one that has a reciever hole so the ball can be removed. And yes, you can remove your wheel without removing the Chucksters Hitch!
Towing a trailer isn't hard or tricky....just gotta remember its back there. Just don't start throwing your bike around like its a sports bike and you'll be fine.
You can't go wrong with the HF trailer. upon getting it home and put together, be doubly sure to take the spindle hubs off, wash that crappy grease out, put some good lithium grease in there, repacking those bearings. They put just enough in there for you to pull the trailer home, plus maybe a couple of local trip around town.
Something I strongly advise....add a set of bearing buddies....
Add your LEDs, and make it your own....your done! Ready for cross country riding!

The Vaquero is the hidden type....both really high quality pieces!

The HF trailer I assembled was junk IMO. The frame was okay but the tires are speed rated for 55 mph, the spindles were off. I could see the wheels wobbling driving down the road. I changed spindles, wheels, tires, etc out and it's okay now but very disappointed..

The key here is grease, quantity and frequency. Bearing buddies and often. Agreed, you get what you pay for.

Well, yes, you get what you pay for. I have 5 personal friends that have the HF special. Due to customization, none of them look alike, all diif. colors, 2 have custom wheels, 4 are painted to match the bikes. I know 2 others that have the $1000+ trailers.
I'm not doubting the quality of the $1000+ trailers....but I wouldn't get one, because I make and/or fab. my own stuff like that, if I'm not too busy.
I'll say 90% of the time, the HF will do, if you want a little room, to pack stuff. How often do you use a trailer? If I put 8000/10,000 miles a year on it, I might consider the $1000+ one.
I would suggest opening the box up at HF and make sure its all there and in good shape before leaving the store. I prefer to have a display model, that way I can see what I'm getting....
Three things you want to do to the HF unit:
1. Pull the spring bolts from the spring eyes, drop the springs slightly, cut 2 pcs of rubber fuel line, when you slide your bolt back in, fish the fuelline over that bolt inside the eye.
If you don't, the rattling sound will get irritating with 100 miles of towing it.
2. Like I said, put good qual.grease in your wheel bearings. Install Bearing Buddys. I repack my wheel bearings every 2 years. I had to actually machine the hubs to install mine, which probably amounts to about $45 now days.
3. Silicone the bolts where they go thru the tub on the inside, I also put some weatherstripping on the closure face. I went thru a Monsoon going to Sturgis a few years ago, things got slightly wet. Not bad, mind you, but damp. So, I sealed her up!
4. The more lights you have, the better folks can see you. Run a seperate ground wire thru your trailer wiring plug, don't depend on grounding thru your ball and coupling. Mine is loaded with LEDs....
I've pull mine every year, for the past 15 years, about 600-1000 miles each year, 2 of those years I put 2500 miles in it each year. 0 problems....

FYI trailer hitch cannot be installed on either exhaust without modifications. I could not find any threads or information on trailer manufactures sites.
I did manage to get Chucksters mounted by notching Freedom bracket slightly so the hitch could install.
Vance and Hines 2 into 1 - The bracket is too big to modify.
Freedom exhaust 2 into 1 - Bracket can be notched (1" square notch) to install Chucksters trailer hitch. I simply cut a piece out out bracket and thought this was the lesser evil than cutting into the hitch. The exhaust bracket is over engineered IMO and not affected.
Marvellous trailer hitch will not install using either exhaust IMO.
