As JD said, diff. bikes are diff. On the Vaquero, let the bike sit for about 35 minutes, all the oil will settle to where its supposed to be.....then check it when the bike is vertical.
Do it the same way everytime. I check it before every ride, then if riding hard for 1/2 day, I'll check it at the gas station when I get a snack and a drink..... Don't fret about it, unless your 1/2 a quart low, then look to see if its smoking or leaking somewhere. My bigbore stroked 1500 will jiggle shit loose unless it lock-tited in good....even on my left hand side cases....I've had that bolt fall out that your supposed to take the engine mounts loose and raise the engine up about a inch or so, on the alternators cover.... Damnest thing I ever saw.....theres not enough clearance for it to fall out, unless your really flexing the motor mounts....but that leak was caused by the screw falling out.... I lost the thing for the last time last year, I helicoiled the hole, then lock-tite'ed it in, hasn't come out since.... Don't sweat the small stuff....
