The aftermath of the Red Lodge trip had an interesting development.
![]() ![]() Explaining to me how to do the rides finally started to make sense at Red Lodge. Following their advice I completed my first Saddle Sore 1000 ride yesterday and early this morning. ![]() ![]() ![]() One thing to note I got way too tired toward the end. After thinking about it I had not been eating a snack at every stop after lunch like I was in the morning. Taking the time to get a light snack and plenty of liquid shortly thereafter I was okay. I didn't feel hungry so had not been eating a small snack, a very big mistake the same as not getting enough water. ![]() I did not get nearly as tired or worn out during the SS1000 like I do during some of the touring. Of course Interstate speeds do keep you more focused. I tuned the radio to music stations and except for a couple of them most were annoying. I think it helped keep me more awake rather than listening to music I would have enjoyed. Now of course I am stuck planning my future trips with longer initial distances allowing more time to enjoy the scenery after I arrive. I no longer have the excuse it is too far in one day. Overall the SS1000 wasn't a bad run, I could get back on the bike and do some riding today without cringing if I was so inclined. My next run will probably be a Bun Burner 1500 or maybe a SS1000 and the BB1500 combined. I need to get some practice in before I would attempt a BB1500 Gold. While I have kidded both Idaho and Wanderer in the beginning of the post their advice and knowledge were a huge benefit. I have run into a couple of other LD riders who have said the same things, it only gets easier now that I have done it once. My actual moving time was right on the money. I need to work on my stop times and make them more efficient. Almost forgot, the CCT was extremely smooth all day long. I didn't realize the strength of the headwind between Albuquerque and Hatch NM and had to make an extra stop for gas. Other riders were telling me it was terrible and I never had a clue. For anyone interested here is my Spotwalla map link. https://spotwalla.com/tripViewer.php...c57bb61c7b9878
