I'm not a fan of the tiny fairing setup and no backrest for the passenger, but I am glad to see the return of the side opening saddlebags!

I'm sure they have a backrest available as an option. Heck, I'd probably take it up to Wompus, have him fab up a rack and put a trunk on it for an extra gas tank ;)

That is a great lookin bike. I am sure there will be a 2 up option. If I could I would buy one but not before the black out versions are gone. Everyone and his grannie are doing that black out version, as if the idea is new.
I don't get excited about night this and night that versions of anything. What floats my stick is the belt drive and the old bags. That belt might get it to be a little more grabby off the line. I would be interested in passing lamps too, and can't tell what might need to get done for them to be accepted. If they had to set out from the main lamp it would look funny.

I'll let my dealer know that when one comes in I want to know that it's there. A regular rack and a solo rack WILL be available! .

Trip will be in Vegas for Kawi's official unveiling Tuesday night. We'll see if this is what has got them so excited.

1700 Special edition - The "Vaquero"
Im going to catch hell for this but here it goes....I'm not aq huge fan of the side opening bags. The other day I opened my right side bag, put a couple items (hat and extra helmet ) inside, closed and locked the bag. Was not down the road a mile when I heard something odd like something falling off. I looked back and noticed my hat was rolling down the road, looked down and saw my right side bag flopping open, spare helmet almost coming out.
stopped, checked bag to make sure I did not leave key in (nope was in my pocket) I have tried to recreate this scenario multiple times with no luck. I follow the same ritual when closing bags. 1. close bag, 2. lock 3. remove key. Im sure this is a rare occurance but made me a non fan of side opening bags.

My Nomad is my first experience with side opening bags.My solution was get some bag liners. If my door should open I think the liners with the help of the retaining straps will keep everything in the bag.

I was fortunate that my Nomad ('05, bought used 6/28/10) came with the bag liners. I'm being very careful to make sure that the bags are closed properly. No mishaps yet, but I've only been a Nomad rider for 1000 miles.
