I haven't done it but it looks to be pretty easy.
I just had the strips taken off mine when I had it painted.

Those strips are $42.94 each from cheapcycleparts.com. Still pretty spendy. Shouldn't the other party's insurance be paying to replace your saddlebag?

He doesn't need insurance, he just has to pay you for the damage out of his pocket not yours.

Well, I'd say he should be warned the authorities will be contacted to report his riding around without insurance. Unless I'm mistaken he's breaking the law and should be punished for that. Either way, he should pay.

In my mind regardless of who pays, either your insurance who then leans on the other guy, or he pays directly out of his pocket, you should not make it easy on them and cut costs. Your bike was damaged and it was not your fault, you deserve to have it repaired properly including the original saddle bag strips.

Sorry about your misfortune. It's the law in Illinois but there are still a lot of no loads out there on the streets without insurance. Get your ride fixed right and to your satisfaction.

It is a law here in Alabama but they catch people without insurance every day. Why isn't insurance companies required to send it in to the state when a person drops their insurance. If you are financed they send it to the company that financed you stating you have dropped your insurance. Just my thought.

I agree; let a reputable shop fix the damage, to your liking, and your insurance will likely go after the guy/gal.
In Florida, it is required for insurance companies to report dropped coverage to the state and the lien-holder(s). Suspension of license and repo possibilities.....but they actually have to be caught or pulled over for the popo to confiscate the license. |
