clock and mileage resetting
The clock and trip odometer have reset themselves to zero a few times in the past month. This happens when I turn the bike off and come back to it a little later. I checked and cleaned the battery posts ( which weren't really too bad) but is there anything else that i should look at that might be responsible for this?
Thanks in advance for any help Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I have followed post like this before. Someone is going to say "Battery" Evidently, this is a sign that your battery is starting to go bad.

Mine did that right before the battery died completely.
Replace your battery.

Battery......... And when you install a new one add a Shumaker pig tail to is, and use the shumaker auto float, anti sulfation pulse charger. It's waiting for you at walley workd and costs 20 bucks. The little one by this brand name if you have any idea to get 8 years out of the next battery.
I ran the pig tail forward and down to come out at the metal wire loom, tubing holder. It's hidden and away from paint. With a hot engine just turned off i can get to that 2 prong connector easy, and my battery is on a charger any time i am not riding. 06 battery reads 12.8 after 14 hours not on the charger. Can't beat that with a stick.

If the reset happens when you are attempting to start the bike it could be bad connections. If the reset just happens while the bike is parked and not trying to start then it is probably the battery. The first suggestion was what was wrong with my bike. Tightened the connections to the battery and no more resets.

Gene, In part I agree with you, as a bad connection is the same as a dead battery basicly. The whole matter could be solved with a voltmeter, and 3 tests.
Ain't that right TC?
