Vaquero riser issue.

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. I recently purchased a leftover '13 Vaquero in flat black, and so far I absolutely love it. A giant leap up from my 900 classic bobber.

I recently noticed an issue with the risers that I'm not a fan of though. On my 900, the risers were solidly mounted to the steering head, which I became a fan of after mounting some 16oz. bar ends haha.

The riser on the vaquero appear to be rubber mounted, because I do get fore and aft movement out of the bars when pushing on them. Almost looks like they're meant to have slop in them like old harley evo bikes. Probably Kawi trying to cut down on noise vibration and harshness concerns.

I would much rather have the bars solidly mounted and then install bar end weights to eliminate vibrations. Can anyone validate this suspicion I have?

After a little research, the bars are in fact rubber-mounted to the steering head like I suspected. Scootworks sells pullback risers that apparently eliminate the rubber mounts, giving a much more solid feel. Guess I know where my next purchase is going to be made!

Do not buy from them. They used to be a solid place, but for the last several years they have been a nightmare to deal with. Good luck with Scootworks - their reputation isn't the best. I'd suggest you avoid their "satin black" 1XVB risers for starters... they're spray-painted with a rattle-can, not powder coated apparently.

Check out Chucksters stuff. He makes good quality products. I have his risers on my Voyager. I'm not sure if he does black but you can check with him.

My 2012 Voyager bars don't move. I have Chuckster's risers and they bolt into the recess of the tree and won't tighten up any slop. i don't think your issue is normal. Check the torque specs.

Something doesn't seem right here, they should be tight..

I do have them for the Vaquero's as well in powdercoat black finish.

The bars on my Voyager have rubber bushings where they mount, they move slightly but not much at all really.
