Barrett Jackson
Have any of you fellas been watching the Barrett Jackson car auction this week? The big day starts later this afternoon where all the heavy iron goes over the block. There have been some good deals earlier in the week, it looks to me like prices have been dropping on a lot of the cars from past years.
I'll be getting together with a few friends later today for some wings, & beers while the auction is on. Its been one of my favorite programs to catch every January.

I do watch the show about once a month. Just love the see the cars of my wild street racing days. I had a 1965 Mustang that would pull the left front tire if your were on concrete bridge. I put 75% on the money I earn from after school and weekend jobs into the car. She was pretty and would run,,,,,, for those day in time. I sold it eventually and bought a 1979 trans Am with the factory 403 HO Oldsmobile engine, Gold colored, beautiful car. Brother had the '67 Camaro and then a '67 Chevelle. The Chevelle had been a drag car with a 396 bored 30 over and a big roller cam, inline shifter, tubbed with drag tires with 3 groves cut to make then street legal. We pulled the 2-4 barrel intake off and went back with a single 780. Plenty for the street. That thing had know problem pulling the tires off the ground.
Sorry, went down memory lane there for a minute. But yep, Love them old beautiful cars on BJ.

I think thats why I watch it as well, a lot of good memories were had back then with those cars. I had the 77 black Trans Am and regret getting rid of it. They are still a beautiful car today.

I raced a 72 VW one night in'80. Between me and my brother we had $15 to place a bet. Never even look at the car up close or had we seen this car before. The guy followed me to the race location. We lined up side by side on a new stretch of asphalt. I told him "excuse me while I clean my tires off". Roasted both rears for about 30 feet, twice. Then he said " my turn, second gear". While he was backing up through all the smoke he made we noticed the twin turbos. He out ran me all the way but the last 100 feet to our self painted line. I'm thinking he missed a gear but he never said if he did. Built twin turbo Porsche engine come to find out. I learned to wait a someone else to race someone first before you go betting.

speaking of drag racing.
I had a 390ci 325 hp 1966 Ford Fairlane GT back in the day. I was at a traffic light in Rome, NY one afternoon and heard a car next to me reving the engine. I look over and see a big Cadillac with a blue haired old lady looking at me. She nods her head forward so I give her the thumbs up. The light changes and I just sit there and watch her leave rubber for 30 feet up the other lane.

I enjoyed seeing the cars and what they sold for but the constant drone of the auctioneer got on my nerves after a while. The closed caption (CC) might have worked but I never thought of that until the auction was over.
