On The Way Home
As I pulled out onto the 117 from the Motel,an SUV hits the breaks and pulls a U-turn right in front of me. Up the road a ways,a white VW pulled in off the exit ramp right in front of me. No indicator, just swerve back onto the highway. Other than that the ride was uneventful.
My front tire has started to scallop. The same happened with the last front when it was due for a change. I've phoned ahead to Moncton, they have a front and rear tire waiting there for me. They can install them 0800h Monday morning. Plan to hit the road at 0600h tomorrow, nurse this bike to Moncton. Will be staying in Moncton with family until Tuesday at the latest. It was almost like saying goodbye to family at breakfast. I'm not good saying goodbye to friends. Norn,Al, you both did a bang up job. Tom,Tim, thanks for the pointers, will put them to good use. To those who attended, "A BIG THANK YOU, you make the long ride there and back worth all the "ACHY BREAKY BUT CHEEKS". "RIDE SAFE ONE AND ALL" Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Pete, hope the rest of your trip is uneventful when it comes to drivers in their own little world. Can you believe this, I got onto the 117 at the hotel headed for gas at the ultramar on the Monte Ryan exit, pull in carefully at one entrance just as a WHITE car comes in from the next exit at a fast clip cutting right across my path, cell phone to his ear. Gas up back on the 117 and just before my exit lane for the 327 is about to begin and as I signal a WHITE car passes me on the inside paved shoulder, can't wait for the lane to begin.
What are the odds?, 4 White cars with mindless drivers on one section of hyway on the same morning! I got back home fine and Al just texted to say they got home safe. To All, ride safe and post when you get home. I personally had a riot at the rally and it was of all of you who made it a good time, what a great bunch! Norm

We arrived home a little after 5 and am happy to report we didn't have the same excitement as you guys. Uneventful ride but very enjoyable. Late lunch just outside Ottawa and even scored some butter tarts for the road.
Very nice to meet all who attended. You made Lois and I feel very welcomed at our first VBA rally. Huge thanks to Norm, Tom, and Tim for the organizing that goes into this. As well thanks to Al for the help with the rides. Too many laughs and good times to start listing them all but the "paddle boat incident" ranks right up there. Looking forward to getting together with this group of misfits again soon.

Sue and I have arrived home.
We only encountered the normal crazy drivers on the way home. Did have a bike do a lane split between us and the car on our right, he was happy riding behind us but for some reason decided that was the time/place to pass, then slowed down from doing 75. Who knows why just glad no accident. WE want to again THANK everyone who was at this rally (our 1st Kaw rally) you all made feel welcomed and part of the family, and to all of you who haven't attended a rally why not they are a blast. Trevor

Mike and Shanna arrived home about 6:30 last night. Battery charged back up and their bike seems to be back to normal now. They told me they had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone.
Sue and I along with Dave and Mary ended up in Lake Placid for the night. To Lake George later today and home tomorrow. Was great seeing old friends again and making new ones. And yep, "Calamity at the Paddle Boat Dock" will definitely rank right up there as one of the more memorable moments of this rally. Ride home so far has been uneventful with the exception of customs telling me that according to the DMV, my bike doesn't belong to me. Guess I'll be visiting them on Monday. Don and Bud - Watch out for moose coming down Moose Alley and enjoy your ride through New England. I'll PM you my cell phone number. Feel free to call if you have any questions. Was a great time time with a great group of people, and hope to meet up with everyone again soon. Sue is working on the pictures and we'll be making those available shortly, along with a short write up. Ride safe if you're still on the road and for the rest of the season.

I'm glad Cindy and I were not in a white car or we may be blamed for trying to run you guys off the road
I have a lot of pics but for some reason cannot get them from storage onto the site and photo bucket will not let me login. The rally was a blast even if we did have to follow you guys in our car

I got them loaded on photobucket but they are not in the order I took them so that is messed up.
Now I know why I quit using photobucket years ago.

After 9 hours, over 4 hours in the fog and another 2 hours in scary looking clouds, I made it to Moncton,NB. It was only 10C when leaving the motel in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli but at one point could not see more than 50 ft.
Front tire held up but is getting rough. The rear would get me home no problem. But G Bourques here has the front and rear in stock, and can put them on 0800h Monday morning. So I'm here in Moncton until Tuesday at the latest. Good to here from those still on the road, and those who have arrived home. Stay safe, ride safe, keep each other safe. Was a pleasure sharing the road with all of you. |

$530.00 later and I can now finish the ride home. Not traveling today as the rain has started, calling for a thunderstorm. So staying put until Tuesday morning.

That sounds like the same dollars that somebody we know paid for a clutch in Ottawa a week ago. Money well spent on our toys!!

On The Way Home
Wow two tires cost what my whole clutch did. But you got to love all the added taxes you pay up there. Yep the economy is alive and well up there.
