Some of those turns do come up quickly on those roads. I wonder if perhaps he ran into loose debris or wet leaves.
RIP

"He was an experienced rider and speed does not seem to have been a factor". Gravel? Sand? Heart attack?
Anyway, RIP.

116 is a fun road to ride but can be tricky at certain points especially those turn backs where the turn keeps going and going. You need to be really careful on that road this time of year between falling leaves, twigs-branches and acorns. Just last weekend the wife and I were riding on a road we always ride on and I started going into a left turn. I leaned the bike and the front tire must of hit a rock, small branch or something in the road which I did not see. The bike would not turn and started going straight towards the woods. I gently used the rear brake to scuff speed, let off the throttle and leaned more. It finally turned but we were really close to going off the road. That's the first something like that happened to me.
My prayers go out to his family.

I had a bogus front tire mounting done at a local shop...the tech ripped the valve stem..and it blew about 1000 miles into my summer's ride...the bike stood straight up, while I was at about 60mph in a right hand curve... I was able to stand on the floor boars and lean my body way out to the right and get around the curve with "no lean".. - While in the oncoming traffic lane- using no braking !.. Had I been in traffic, I'd be dead by now !...
there are many risk's Out in The Wind...RIP my fellow rider ! |
