? Parts needed for replacing clutch springs:
Looks like I'm going to have to replace my stock clutch springs with heavy duty springs. It's starting to slip in 5th gear and my mileage is really starting to suffer when doing any highway riding. Before I need to replace the entire clutch, I figured I would get the springs on there. Can someone pleast post exactly what parts are needed to do so? Springs, gaskets, washers, etc? Thanks.

By the way, bike is an '03 Nomad with just under 17,000 miles on it. And I'm using Rotella 15w40 oil which I have never had an issue with clutch slippage while using. Am very disappointed that it is doing this with such little mileage on it. I had a '98 Honda ACE Tourer 1100 that had almost 70,000 on it before I replaced the springs with Barnett and never had an issue before or after on that bike.

From Gadget's page:
What You'll Need •clutch_repl_parts.jpg (60656 bytes) Clutch cover gasket (Kawasaki part number 11061-1081 for 2001 and later, check Kawasaki's parts diagrams to be sure this is the proper part for your bike.) •Clutch Spring for MeanStreak Kawasaki part number 92145-1449 or stock part number for your bike--your choice. •Exhaust header gasket (stock Kawasaki or Harley Davidson part # 17048-98 (about six bucks for 2 gaskets) •Optional 1- set Judges Washers (see explanation here) available from Robert (Judge) Oglesby. Judge is on the road quite a bit so be patient waiting for return e-mail. MT

When MaKaw brought the 1600 out they used the same spring on the Classic, Nomad, and Meanie. But it isn't the same spec as the 1500 Meanie spring. They also used the same cams across all three platforms in the 1600, just different degrees of advance, unlike the 1500 which had more cam and larger valves in the Meanie. The 1500 Meanie was a factory hotrod where the 1600 Meanie wasn't. MT

before you dive into replacing the spring, (only 1 spring by-the-way), check your clutch master cylinder, could be plugged in there and not releasing brake fluid pressure

I will do that. I actually just had the brake fluid replaced so I wouldn't think that would be the issue. But, if he screwed something up???

its not the spring, I bet the problem is fluid related in the master cylinder ,

Take off the reservoir cover and look down in the bottom of it. There is a small hole that the returning fluid comes back through. Very carefully squeeze the clutch a little and slowly release it while watching. You should see fluid returning thru it. If not the master will need to come off. Pipe cleaners seem to be the tool of choice for cleaning the passage.
