Why Vance & Hines???
It looks to me that a lot of you have upgraded the stock exhaust to Vance & Hines Bagger Duals.
Why did you choose this brand? What about the Cobra True Duals, Hardchrome or Roadhouse? I just want to know the pluses and minuses before I drop a load of money on a shiny new exhaust.

Why Vance & Hines???
Mine came that way when I bought it, but they do sound nice (especially with the ultimate baffles), and are less restrictive than stock.

Why Vance & Hines???
I installed Cobra True Duals w/billet tips on my Nomad because it seemed to me everyone had the V&H baggers.

You may want to do a search on this topic, there has been so much written about pipes. I think most of the time, it comes down to dollars. All these brands have their good and bad point; cracked head pipes where the manufacturer say too bad, none removable baffles, are they true duals or do they use xover pipes, the overall cost. Good luck with your quest. ::)

Why Vance & Hines???
This is a pretty open question, kind of like asking who likes Pepsi and who likes Coke. I have V & H on mine, and to be honest, I had them put on when I bought the bike new because that's what the dealer suggested. I heard a clip of them on youtube, and it sounded good to me. You can go on youtube and see video clips of both V & H and Cobra. I've been very happy with my V & H for the 20,000 miles I have on the Nomad.

Why Vance & Hines???
I have VH on my 06 Nomad and have been running them for about 20,000 miles. Other than a less than perfect fit, they work well. No problems with the chrome. They are a bit louder than I really wanted, but I have been putting up with them and do not regret making the change. I don't remember why I bought VH over others.

Mine had the V&H on it when I got it.
I put HD takeoffs ( the slash ups not down) on my V&H headpipes. Personally I like the sound better plus I got shiny new chrome with the manufacturers stamp ( you never know with the gubmint) for a whopping $10.00. MT

Why Vance & Hines???
I purchased V & H and installed them just a couple of weeks ago. I have read where some have had problems with the installation and cracked rear head pipe after some time. I had no problems with the installation. The chrome looks great and everything fit perfect. I went with the Vance & Hines because I wanted to try a set of Ultimate Baffles. They sound great with the V & H baffles and with the ultimate baffles. Got them from Dennis Kirk for $428 + $10 oversized parcel fee. I got the $10 back in the way of a gift card they sent me.

The V&H pipes offer not only a great stock sound, but also a lot of options for customizing the sound. The baffles are easily removable and customizable. As stated....many on here have had the V&H "Ultimate Baffles" custom crafted by a machinist. They give your Vulcan a sound that very closely resembles that of an HD...I LUV mine! The drawing for them is available here...but they are not for everyone as they are louder and more aggressive than the stock V&H.
You-tube is a great source to listen to different sounding pipes. Below is a short clip I made some time ago after I installed the UB's. I had the idle down low for the video (potato-putt effect) and run it just a tad higher normally. Whatever you choose...good luck and enjoy!

Mine came with the V&H also, but if it hadn't of I would have chose them anyways, for all of the above reasons.

Why Vance & Hines???
I have the V&H, and besides the initial fitment, I've been pleased.
Since installation, I've played around with LOTS of different baffling and sounds, and currently running some HD Screamin' Eagle mufflers on the V&H headers. My only wish (after the fact) is for a crossover tube. Some brands have it, and at the time I didn't want it. I have a couple vids on YouTube regarding exhaust sounds too. My user name there is Jestephens. For example: [flash=350,287:e5i3s9o0]http://www.youtube.com/v/mxJxjsbr0J8&hl=en&fs=1[/flash:e5i3s9o0] </td><td valign="top"> <iframe src="http://images.proboards.com/300x250.html" width="300" height="250" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> </td></tr></table>

Kris, Do you have the screens in your UB's? I don't and may pick up a couple of 4" floor drains at Lowes and fix them on the inside of the baffles if it tones them down a little. They are a little too loud with just the pin IMO.

Why Vance & Hines???
Bought mine from the dealer because they had a used system laying around for 160 euro's.
Don't know..but I think that's about 200 dollars or something. No regrets..sound is great,especially in tunnels..hitting the trottle. |
