Need help removing alternator rotor on 1600 Nomad

I need to replace the inner stator which means the Alternator Rotor needs to be removed.

I am following the Kawi manual which says use special tool# 57001-1410. That is supposed to hold the rotor while removing the 17mm rotor bolt. OK I don't have that special tool.

What have others done and how did you remove and re-install that bolt to 58 ft lbs? Which direction does the bolt loosen and tighten?

I turned the back wheel forward a nudge and the rotor turns counter clock wise (same direction) so I am thinking the bolt must loosen clockwise?

Any help getting past this step would be very much appreciated.
