If your total shoulder replacement goes like mine just did, it will be well worth it. It is painful and it is a long recovery, but I am virtually pain free with pretty near full range of motion now. Just continuing to build strength. Right after the surgery, I couldn't even swing my arm an inch. The PT afterwards is really, really important. Took six months before I got on the bike again, but without the surgery, my riding days would have been over.
