What if you'd already put lots of time and money into your bike (like yours) and the motor just got worn out? Would you rather spend a few grand rebuilding the motor (the right way) or just buy another bike?

Where the hell would be the fun in that?
Only a 'Real Biker' would understand. I'll stop now before I say too much. MT

Thats him, Ive never met him, but it seems like he spends a lot more time riding than talking about it.
Sounds like he has a nice garage full of bikes. I know he was trying to sell his Nomad a year or more ago, I never heard if it did sell.

It sold and he just kinda fell into the one he has now. Guy had it for sale dirt cheap and decided he wanted another one.

If my bike engine wore out prematurely for some unknown reason, I might consider an upgraded engine. I don't get attached to bikes. I have built and sold (at a profit) a bike every year for the last 6 years.

No issues with my engine at all, I just started this thread just to see if anyone had ever used the Thunder kit and if they were pleased with it. I suppose, I'm like everyone else in that I'd love a little extra power and thought that IF it ever comes time to rebuild the engine I'd MAYBE consider it.

Two things: Deck height and big end rod clearance in the crankcase.

D- on the answer Jim! You know for sure that the crankcase cannot accept the big end pinned further away? Deck height can be done with a shorter piston and pinned closer to the rings to lower the height???? boooooo... maybe even an F+!!!

They were suggestions as to why it hasn't been done. I recall an article in Motorcycle Cruiser about the displacement of the then new 1600 and the author said that 1600/Stroking 5mm was about the limit in her discussions with Kawasaki. Of course there would be people that would try to modify this on their own, but I haven't seen or read of it being done... So, do I still get an F+? May be most people don't think the effort's worth it.

But it HAS been done. The 1600 is a stroked 1500.
Nuff said. MT

Right and the point I was making was that 1600 or 1552 was the limit.
