2002 1500 Nomad the steering is too light

The steering feels too light. Quick to move left and right with little pressure. No noises or anything. What needs to be done to stiffen up the steering so that it takes more pressure to turn left/right?

Adjust your steering head bearings.

Is adjusting the steering head bearings a major maintenance requiring lots of dis-assembly? Any special tools needed?

Or just check with Gadget maybe?

Peg, I did that this morning. Gadget describes the process in detail. MacMac suggested I bookmark that page when I first asked about the maintenance issues with the 2002 Nomad. As a new member and owner I haven't developed that groove and process, but I'm learning! Thanks for pointing again to the solution.

The longest part of tightening the steering head bearings is taking all the stuff off that you need to so that you can get to the adjuster. Dont just tighten it. Lower the front end and grease the lower, and upper bearings.

Best move I ever made. There was very little grease on the bearings from the factory.

Well, I hope the bearings do have grease, but will take advantage since we are in this far to grease the bearings. Thanks.

Grease fittings

Is it possible to add some grease fittings to make lubing these bearings easier in the future?
