Steering
Hi all,
I am getting ready to take a four day ride with daughter and was noticing the bike (06 nomad) seems to"dive" into the turns. I checked the tire pressure and it was good. I will check the shocks to make sure they are the same preassure. There's no wobble or shaking. Thoughts? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I get the same feeling on right handed sweepers...I'd be curious to see the consensus as well.

You should probably change the fork oil to a higher viscosity.

It made a big difference and I love the much sturdier front end.

Mine seemed to be doing the same thing as well, I checked my rear shock air pressure, it was at 20lbs, I pumped it up to 35 and it seems a lot better.
I rode the bike 400 miles today and it felt good.

There's also some flex to the frame on the 1600, not sure about the 1500, but I'd assume it does the same thing.

The 1500's probably have even more flex in them, way too much for my liking. They work ok until you start pushing the bike through the corners hard, then get can get a little squirrly on you.

Thanks for the input! I will check the shocks. I have had the bike for three years and this is the first time I've noticed the "diving". I was concerned it might be steering head bearing. This is a great forum!

Just got back after 1500 miles. I checked the shock pressure and it was only 20lbs, increased it to 40lbs ( my daughter, myself and 40lb t-bag ) and handled fine. Thanks for the replies!

Check your fork seals and make sure you have not lost any fluid.
