Going to full synthetic at 600 mi service
Has anyone gone to full synthetic at first 600 mile service and noticed any issues? I know old school was not to switch till at least 5000 miles to allow proper break in, but I think with new technology that is really not an issue.
I know quite a few auto manufacturers start with synthetic. Appreciate any input.

Many new cars start their life at the factory with synthetic.

Go for it, as mentioned some new cars come with it from the factory. Ive used synthetic oil last season and I just put some in last week, however when thats ready to change I'll be going back to Rotella T 15W40 dino oil, as I find that it shifts gears smoother.

Vaquero Loves the Lucas Oil
Just did the oil change in the Vaquero and boy what a difference a better quality motor oil makes. I switched to the Lucas Hi Performance Semi Synthetic motor oil in 10W40. I used this motor oil in my Victory Hammer when I had that bike and it made a world of difference on shifting and engine noise. It has quieted the Vaquero engine down and the exhaust note is more noticeable.

Hi all / Michael here.. new here, but I am member to VRA and ROG
I have been a mechanic in the auto body shop business for over 35 years and do mechanical work as well... I asked many motorcycle techs that I trust completely and was told on our bikes the full synthetic was a waste of money on our big cruisers and that the full synthetic was great for racing bikes only, its all about the revolutions and our bikes do not rev like the "crotch rockets"/racing bikes. all my vehicles get part synthetic, I use Caster oil synthetic blend / look at this, where I buy my oil and this is what you should seriously consider >>>>>>> Castrol 06408-6PK Actevo Xtra 10W-40 4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil - 1 Quart Bottle, (Pack of 6) by Castrol 7 customer reviews Price: $38.95 Free Shipping for Prime Members click on direct link to Amazon.com below http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ie=UTF8&psc=1# cant beat the price and the K&N OIL FILTER mine 2011 nomad uses #303 filter and its 10.00 bucks... the oil is awesome and with the blend that is in this oil, your bike will last a long long time. I promise you'll love this stuff

I went synthetic at my 600 mile service. The dealer installed Motul synthetic and it seemed to work good. My next change was Amsoil 20w-50 and a Napa gold filter. I'm now running Rotella T6 and the K&N filter. I think the Amsoil was great oil but I ran the T6 in my VN 2000 and loved it so it's the oil of choice for the Voyager.

Bel-Ray's 10W50 synthetic.
I'm going to try Bel-Ray's Big V-Twin 10W50 Synthetic at around 2000 miles, currently running Rotella 15W40 which I put in at 600 miles, seems to be running smooth and nice with the Rotella.

When I used dyno, or synth blend, I changed the oil at closer intervals, as opposed to factory specs. That being said, if I'm using full synth, I will do the changes at spec, or at least the start of each season.
