Running Ethanol in your fuel.......
http://www.cycleworld.com/2013/07/05...ur-motorcycle/
Anyone using any additive to combat the effects of Ethanol? I still run premium (91) octane since it isn't blended with Ethanol. But sometime I can't get it.

I don't use any additives. I do have a few places close by that have ethanol free gas. I run it in all my vehicles when I can even if its a little out of my way. Where I live it's at least 12 mi. to a gas station anyways.

Yea, My closest station is 8 miles, but I'm talking about when your out on the road. We have poker run we like to do each year. One of the stops is in a small town that doesn't have anything but Ethanol fuel. You can't make it to the next town unless you fuel up there. So I was thinking I may carry some type of additive in that situation.
There is also the issue of these stations with only one handle for different octane fuels. If the car ahead just pumped 85, your going to get some of that crap too.

I just try to by good quality gas. I never thought about an additive other than an octane booster that the dealer gave me to try. Might be worth looking into though.

I don't add anythinf either, and most stations here have ethanol added to the fuel. I do add Seafoam a couple times a season to help clean the FI system.

I think SF is good to clean the system, but I don't think you would want to run a steady diet of it. I know sta-bil and star-tron make additives for ethanol , but have never tried either of them.

I run E-10 89 to 91 octane, what ever I feel like at the time.
I would stay away from E-15 though. 89 runs good in my stock 08 Nomad on cooler days. Never worried about ethanol in my 07 Nomad which had 88,000 miles on it when I sold it. I can't believe how much some of you guys worry on here.

I use Starbrite (i.e. Star Tron) every 3 or 4 tanks. http://www.starbrite.com/category/star-tron
The PO of my bike gave me 2 bottles when I purchased the bike. That was a year ago and I still have 1 unopened bottle. I used Seafoam in my previous bike. We don't have a 100% station anywhere close, so I try to minimize the ethanol in the fuel with 1 oz of Starbrite. I also only buy Chevron 93 fuel for my 2001 carbed Nomad.

Any fuel station anywhere. I just pick the most premium selection on the pump I'm at and leave the rest to god and nature. Not tryin to end up in a mental ward over it.
Kudos TC.

In June 2012, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the sale of E15 gasoline, a mixture of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gas.

I think most owners manuals say its ok to use 15% ethanol, I know mine says that, but I've never seen any around here. I wouldn't use it unless I had to.

I don't think that just pertains to maintenance.
