Rear brake pedal hard to mash.
I took my 09 Nomad 47000 miles out a couple of times this week and noticed the the rear brake pedal is getting hard to push in and apply the rear brakes. I really have to push it hard to get the brake to work. When I checked the master cylinder I noticed a small amount of fluid leaking around the front of it. There is no play at all in the pedal. Will bleeding it, and or changing the fluid help, or do I need to replace the master cylinder?

Sounds like you have a master cylinder that is failing. Have you ever done any of the recommended 3 year Brake flushes?

Maybe the pistons are seizing up in the brake caliper ?

Yup, rear calipers can stick in or out. Gotta clean them. Mine stuck/ froze Goin to work at 19 degrees f. Coroded outer piston from road salt debris. Simple cleaning worked. Definitely check & bleed before messing with the cylinder.

Has the pedal pivot point been lubricated? That can seize and make for a really still pedal.

Regular maintenance of the entire brake system is a must! The fluid absorbs moisture. Trash can build up in the bottom of the reservoir and block the screen. Hoses get soft reducing hydraulic pressure. As mentioned above, pistons can stick if not cleaned. Seals go bad.
