Switched Power
Well the weather is going to crap again (snow in the forecast) and I just got my eastern beaver PC8 fuse block so I'm going to install my driving lights this weekend and rewire my stereo and GPS so they are not connected directly to the battery. I remember reading in a thread before to connect it (fuse block) to the wire for the tail light (?) so it is on a switched source. Does anyone remember as I can't find it using the search feature. Also do you remember the colour of the wire?
Thanks

If you go to Gadgets page there is a section on how to add an auxiliary fuse block. http://www.gadgetjq.com/gadgetsfixitpage.htm I think there is a wiring diagram. Hope this helps.

Sorry about the weather you're having. I won't add insult to injury by boasting that I will be riding in 80 degree sunshine tomorrow.
Maybe this will help... If you remove your seat, you will see a bundle of wires coming through the rear fender. This is your taillight wiring harness. Follow the wire forward into the battery area and you will find it is connected to the main wiring harness with a 6-pin plug. Use a test probe or a multimeter and determine which of those 6 pins goes hot when you turn on your ignition. Bingo! There's your taillight wire.

Lookin like I might get snow too, but I want it for the cold nights and warm days for sugar..
Cj musta' lost his reedin' glasses, but the wire you seek is red, for the 'switched tail lamp, aka running lamp. It will be teamed up under the seat with lt blue Brake.

I put a fuse buss in the top of the tool box. The power to the relay from the aux connection under the seat. I used a T-tap to the taillight wire to activate the relay when the ignition comes on. Then a power line to the 6 slot power buss. The buss uses the same mini fuses as the bike and this gives a source for other connections without having to do a lot of tapping of wires again. All this costs very little and is a lot less work later.
I have pics and a how to I have sent out to others and you are welcome to them if you send me an e-mail addy. While I am recovering from back surgery, I can't ride or work much on the bike so my time is your time.

Just remember that the radio needs both a switched and a constant hot to work proper. The constant will keep your radio presets and clock locked in.

Bike wire codes:
Red = running lights Blue = brakes White and blue = unswitched (always on) Aux + Black and yellow = Aux - ground Green = left signal wire Grey = right signal wire Test probe = confirmation/confidence

Hammer sorry to hear you needed back surgery. I need it, but can't pay for it. Workers Comp and AIG cheated me from it, years ago now. I have some porgy days, and others are not too bad any more.
Good point about using the tool box area. Some guys don't know it is there, I find from time to time.

I managed to get 2 relays and the 6 port bus in there. While I had the gas tank off the first time, I layed in 4 lines to the front with SAE plug on the front end. I finally learned from my other bikes. I only have 1 spare to the front now.
The back surgery was the result of a high school football injury finally catching up with me. At least I can walk again. I know there is still a lot of debate going on about health care down there and there should be. Ours usually comes through but there are waits for some procedures.

I hope the back work, works for you. I was slated, but AIG cheated me at the labor board.... I fixed as much if that problem as i could with shear hate. No one from AIG had ever better show in my face, or their back will be like mine was.
I know i shouldn't say this, but at time anger over comes my sences. I see you guys as brothers, can't say how you see me back... Wacko nut case probably, but hiding things isn't my bee's wax much, not yet anyway.

I kinda have 1 foot on each side of the border and don't see much difference as far as people go. I love riding in the US and have very positive experiences. Our family have those who have served and sacrificed for both flags so it makes the ties a little stronger that way too.
