Windshield options
So yes I have searched a lot. I want a moderately bigger w/a but only oem say ya gotta buy the damper and stupid chrome thing on outer part plus different bolts. Does Klockwerks or windvest have the same issue? I assume but don't wanna spend gobs of green.

My Windvest went on with the OEM bolts. My bike does not have any chrome piece.

To me the chrome piece helps hold everything in place and gives the windshield more support. I have the Windvest and really like it and got the chrome piece from Kawasaki.

I just tucked the windvest in behind the stock screen, works well and looks good.

Rusty it makes sense but I don't want to drop $50 and the less chrome the better.

I understand, have seen some guys get it painted black but that just adds to the cost.

don't know what bike you have as it is not shown, but I went with the clearview, I have tried most brands on my voyager and so far this is the only one that gives me no buffeting or neck ache.

I purchased a taller OEM windshield and it required the chrome plate and screws. My logic for the need of the chrome plate and screws is because the taller windshield applies more load on the mounting screws and the frame of the faring when the wind is blowing on the windshield. The chrome plate supports the plastic or sandwiches it in between the faring and plate so the plastic does not crack around the bolts where the loads will be higher. The bolts are longer to account for the thick chrome plate and plastic. Check partspitstop.com the OEM costs are the best I could find. Hope this helps.

I asked this question specifically before I ordered my clearview shield, and clearview said the chrome piece is NOT necessary at all, unless you want the looks of the chrome trim, but the added stress on the windshield is not an issue. Also, the clearview windshield (for the Vaquero) is painted black in the same way the oem Vaquero bagger shield was, so it appears "baggerish" from a distance, but its clear above that. FYI...

Clearview doesn't have a lot of media or photos on sight. A little torn on the appearance of partially black. The ceebailey's is looking good but if I add damper and strip it will be as much as Klockwerks which is my first choice....except financially.

Ceebailey hasn't returned email asking about the damper And hardware. Meh, small issue but more worrisome is their not responding to a perspective client in five days. I am a fan of customer service and question whether this is indication of theirs? Chime in if you have ceebaileys experience.
