Milage from a Tank of Gas
Realizing that there are numerous conditions that can affect gas milage, what is the average km's or miles that you are getting off your Vulcan Nomad 1600's?
I've only had my bike about a month now, and have only been getting between 220 and 250 km per tank. I have just recently installed new plugs hoping that would increase my km's per tank. I have recently read an extended review stating that the average milage was 358 km (223 miles) per tank.

My low fuel light on my 1600 Nomad would usually come on around the same mileage as yours, 240kms.
358 kms is very optimistic unless its all downhill, with a tail wind. |

My light comes on at 160 miles and I start looking for gas then.
The fuel pump is in the tank and is cooled by the gas so I don't like to let the level go to low. I get on average 42 MPG, so I think I am safe up to 200 miles per tank. But, as stated, don't like to go much passed 160/170 because of the cooling effect of the gas on the fuel pump.

Yah and I am guessing it helps keep the tailgaters off you too?

yep, my tank could go 300kms but then I'd be pushing her fat ass to the next station. My light comes on around 240 and that's when I start looking for a refill.

As I've stated in earlier posts, my light comes on right at 118 miles or so, but when I fill it up it only takes right at 3 to 3.4 gallons. I've only had the bike about a month so I'm still getting use to it but I've started to fill it up at around the 160 mile range and have never put more than 4 gallons in it.

I am now getting used to it. The gas gauge bar thing sucks. Mine will drop to 2 bars and then sit their long enough to generate paranoia.
