Gop,
When I read stuff like this...I have to chuckle and an old saying always comes to mind. "There, but for the grace of God, go I".

I appreciate you sharing... :)....now I won't feel quite so stupid the next time I do something like that...and there WILL be a next time!

Don't feel bad. Shortly after I bought my new Nomad in July of 06, I rode it to work to show it off to all the guys. I parked it, shut it off and went inside. All the guys wanted to go outside to see it. Then they wanted to hear it run. I climbed on, turned on the ignition switch, put it in neutral, lifted up the side stand and hit the starter button. Nothing. Turned the ignition switch off and then back on. Hit the starter button. Nothing. Now I'm flustered, everybody standing there looking and it won't even try to turn over. I muttered something like, "What's wrong? It was fine when I got here!" Then one of the guys standing there reached over to the right handlebar and flipped the kill switch down to the run position and said "Try it now."

Talk about feeling like a stupid dumba$$! ! ! ! :-/ :-/ :-/

Haven't forgotten since then to check that kill switch though!

I got a bad habit of using the kill switch if I park on a slope, then walk away leaving the ingnition on.....

Oh Crap! Now CheriAnn will be stalking my bike!

My wife has said on several occasions "its cheaper to pay someone to do it right the first time than to pay them to fix what you screwed up"

Dont know why I married her LOL

Can't tell you how many times I've walked away from my bike after using the kill switch with the ignition on. Thank God, Cheri lives a long way away from me so I'm fairly safe.

The Nomad kill switch looks much different than any other bike I've ever owned. It took me a couple tries to realize that's why it wasn't cranking the first time I rode it. The dang kill switch was off, but it looked on to me.

The bump "up" meant "on" on my last Kawasaki. On this one there's a bump "up" when it's on, but there's a bump top and bottom when it's off. It just looked "on" to me.

And this was after telling the dealer I'd ridden bikes for 30 years. Talk about embarassment!

Yup. I think most have been bitten by that Lil red switch. Myself included.

Reminds me of a trip this summer. I met up with my folks on my way to the states near the B.C./Wash. border. We had stopped at a small town pump and when we where ready to leave, Dads new Burgman would not start. Other costumers arrived so I helped him push the bike out of the way. The onboard display showed a oil problem which he said never did before. So here we are trying to find a place to check the oil, not that easy on that scooter :-[. Mom and Dad are getting pretty worried by this point. Finally I give her I try and lo and behold the kill switch is off.
Dad still denies ever using the switch ::) and the oil light, well it still comes on before the engine is running to indicate low oil pressure.
