3 Members Ride: Galena to La Crosse

Three members made the Galena, IL to La Crosse, WI ride over Memorial Day weekend.

Biscuits-n-Gravy; (and his wife Donna); Rayski; along with me and my wife made the trip starting early Sat.

We wound our way up along the Mississippi headed north in some of the best riding and scenery found in the Midwest. We hit some rain on Sat; but was able to navigate around most of it -- so it didn't ruin the day. Arrived late afternoon in La Crosse. Went out to eat and re-hydrated somewhat.

Sunday provided a fantastic day of weather as we headed back south along the Minnesota/Iowa side of the river. More of the same great roads and views.

We saw an incredible number of Nomads -- the most I have ever seen in one trip. We spoke to a couple owners -- one at our hotel and another at National Park. We encouraged them to join-in on KawaNOW.

Anyway... I do believe everyone had a good time... we'll see what they say.

glwilson, Biscuits-n-Gravy, and rayski

Yes, it was certainly a great ride. Greg did a fine job in putting the ride together for myself and Rayski. Early on the first day, we saw some storm clouds to the north. We had stopped in a little town to discuss our options when a woman came out of her home and showed us where the storm was on the radar using her cell phone. That helped Greg plan a more westerly route around the storm. We saw some fine scenery along the Mississippi River. A lot of fishing going on along the river. We met a couple fellas that had pulled in about 30 crappies and bluegills in about 2 hours. We happened upon many good folks during the two-day trip, and made some good friends among the five of us. We'll all be at the Custer Rally too! BnG

Glad to see you post again rayski... you began to worry me. The last I saw you... you had the rest of the week off... and were still on your Nomad. Thought maybe you got lost!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the trip. Be sure to vote for a Central Region Rally date. It appears the PDC location will be our base; which is a good choice in my opinion. Plenty of great roads to ride to from there.

I sent you guys some photos today. Yes, it was a great ride! I forgot to tell you both that when we got to Waverly, IA, on Sunday evening, I slept on a picnic table for about an hour before going the rest of the way home! It was a much needed break. BnG

I'll bet you did need a rest. You certainly win the "trooper" award for that trip Dave! I was tired myself and didn't have near as far to go as you.

Glad everyone made it home safe.
