Of course you can join-in. Let us know so we can make arrangements to meet.

Your dates confused me though... just so you know... we are riding on the 23rd and 24th (Sat & Sun). Maybe you mentioned to 22nd so you can travel.

Again... let us know!

If there is anyone else out there that has a last minute change of heart -- chime-in!

Tim;

The dates I have open to ride this season are listed earlier in this thread.

If you see a date or two that fits your schedule let me know. Then let me know what ride you want to do. We'll just do our best to make your ride choice happen on the date you are available.

In that way... it would hopefully acommodate your schedule and preference better, since you would be coming from a longer distance.

PM me if you want.

PS: If you see or hear from Roadman, ask him where he has been!!

Talk soon, Greg

Regional Summer Rides I Will Be Doing

Hey Greg,
I see where you might have a ride in July, the third week-end. I had planned a ride for 6 to Madeline IS. on 17,18 & 19 but most have backed out. Then the Motel backed out and the closest is Wakefield, MI; two hours away. Chuckster is coming up to Clinton, IA. from Pekin, IL because Cat. is shut down two weeks and we decided that riding the Mississippi to ST. Paul and back would be just as good. We can blow Fri. fairly easy as he will travel from Pekin and the girls at Poopies always take an hr. of my time and then New Diggins, WI. and run the back road to Galena. That should fill Fri. for us. Niether Chuck or I have been that far up the river, so not sure which roads to run. Lansing, IA. is as far as I've been, but done a u-turn and came back as the road was fun. If your not riding, do you have any tips or roads to ride that we should know about? 01nomad

Hey 01nomad!

I will not be available on that weekend to ride... even though I would like to tag-along. I will likely be going up along the Mississippi River the weekend of the 4th (3-day weekend for me).

If I were you guys, I wouldn't go any further than La Crosse, WI... mostly because once you get to Prairie du Chien, WI that is when the scenery, hills, and twisted-roads become their best between there and La Crosse -- thus riding too much further than La Crosse could be a waste of time (that is unless you like the Twin-Cities -- or if you were to go all the way up the Lake Superior).

If you get a map and "hug" the Mississippi River all the way up to Prairie du Chien and beyond you'll have a great ride (Great River Road and other roads a bit closer to the river).

If you look at the map in more detail you'll see once you are up to at least PdC, you can take a lot of the side-off-roads leading up into the various hills and bluffs along the river there and find great twisties and hills to ride.

In PdC, you can cross the river over to McGregor, IA (a unique river town) and go south to the Twin-Peaks State Park -- which provides what I believe to be the best view of the river from the highest bluffs to be found anywhere along the river.

Also; from the PdC area you can head back north hugging the river on either side (Iowa or Wisconsin). Both provide nice views and roads; and again -- look for the off-roads heading up into the bluffs as that is where there is some of the best riding.

You could also head east along the Wisconsin River from PdC; which is a less hilly ride; but still a nice ride.

So... by riding only as far as PdC... you can base out of there for a couple days and spend a lot of time discovering the area's roads yourself... as most are going to be some of the best in the Midwest.

The roads further up to the Twin Cities begin to flatten-out and become less inviting... at least to me.

Just as a reminder... we are going to have a regional rally in Prairie du Chien next July if you and Chuckster would care to join in. If you take this ride you'll already have an idea of what the area provides.

Anyway... let me know if there is anything else I can provide you -- and post what you guys finally do so we can hear about it.

Greg

Regional Summer Rides I Will Be Doing

Thanks Greg,
Sunday is the David Allan Coe concert at Poopies. I plan on being up there early for breakfast and be done for the concert at 1PM. It is a 1 1/2 hour cocert and then I'll be heading back to Clinton. OK, I'll probably have a beer or two first. I will check when I get back!
