Got your monies worth out of that one. Was it an interesting ride toward the end of it's life?

Please add me to that link mailing. The covered bridge phenomenon is a novelty we dont have in my neck of the woods. Termites would have eaten them anyway.

Thanks,

Larry

hey guys can anybody give me the truth on when to repalce your tires. The manual says replace at so many millimeters of depth. if you buy a tire tread depth gauge WHERE do you take your readings: 1. center groove,, 2. sidewall area,, 3. between sidewall and center groove. Of course you will always have more rubber in the area nearest the sidewall and least in the center? i know its like replace at 2-3mm but where to do the testing is my question. In the good ole days we would take a penny and if you could see the top of ole abes head it was time/ Thanks

your supposed to take the measurement where ever the tread is the most worn, any tire will fail inspection if any part of it is less than the required measurement, also some tires have built in "wear bars" they are little bumps in the tire grooves that when your tire wear reaches that level, change the tire! The stock bridgestone excedras on my bike had them, i am running metzler marathons now and i ve not checked if they have the wear bars,

Ya think? ::)

Yeah, I'll admit I got my monies worth on that tire. :)

The prompting factor on changing it was I was on my way to a toy run right before Christmas that year and the roads were a little damp. When I took off from a stop the back of the bike started sliding sideways, so I figured it was time for a new tire.[/quote]
