Cam Chain extenders replace

Well since it is going to be a bad weekend for riding i am going to attempt to replace the Cam chain extenders. I have an 05 Nomad 1600 my question what keeps the new extenders from falling off the ends of the rods. I have read Gadgits page and at one point it says to use locktite is this underneath the New extender to hold it in place.
I bought my Extenders from Chuckster along with a Trailer Hitch.
He was great and very Helpful to work with. He even went as far as calling me on a Sunday. It would be Great if all people would be this helpful.
Again Thanks to Chuckster

I'm about to install the extenders on my tensioners. I picked up a tube of high temperature red loctite. Once the tensioners are in place and adjusted there is no worry about them falling off. The critical time is when you are putting them in.

Thenew extender should press on to the shaft, but clean it well and use a drop of red loctite on assembly. Like Mitch said once installed it wont fall out, but you don't want it to fall off during assembly.

When I did mine, I put a little red high temp loctite in the new extenders, put it on the rods and let it set up for a couple hours before putting back in the engine. You don't want the extender falling off into the engine before it gets seated, especially the front one since it angles down towards the front jug. One of my extenders went on the rod very loose and the loctite secured it, while the other extender went on the rod very snug, but I still used the loctite on it.
Good luck.

They will be a very slight slip fit or you may have to use the bench vise to help pushing them on. Use a drop or two of loc-tite and all is well.

That's exactly how mine went. Very slight slip fit on one and used the bench vise to help push the other one on. A little loctite and all was well. :)
