Metzler 880 Marathon Tires for the front
Check out motorcycle superstore, really good prices and free shipping through UPS. Great people to deal with and fast shipping.
I run Michelin, front and rear, and Brian runs Dunlops; both us us have no complaints with either brand. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Metzler 880 Marathon Tires for the front
CycleCat,
Do you run the Michelin Commanders or a different Michelin tire? Haven't bought anything as of yet so I am keeping all my options open. If I decide to go to a car tire on the rear than can I go with the radial tire Avon Cobra? Thought I could but wasn't sure or is there a better option for the front with a rear car tire? Thanks Butch |

Metzler 880 Marathon Tires for the front
I have Elite 3's on the front and rear of my 02. I took my bike in to have the front tire rebalanced because some weights fell off and I could feel a little bumping as I was riding. The guy told me the tire itself has a "hop" in it and rebalancing would not fix it. Said it probably has a broken cord in it. It still has lots of tread but I'm looking to get a new one put on soon. I plan to go with the Elite 3 again.

I have fairly low milage so it'll be a while before I look at tires, and I'm not experianced with other tires, but really... are the Bridgestones that bad?

Hey CycleCat,
Thanks for the reply about the Michelins. What was the size that you got for the front as well as the back? Just the stock size or something bigger for the back? How do the handle and ride as compared to the Avons if you would happen to know? I used to put Metzlers on but since I have heard so many negatives as compared to positives I thought about the Avons as well as the Michelins. I have always had excellent luck with the auto Michelins but didn't know if the quality was the same in the bike tires. Anything you got to share would be appreciated. Thanks Butch |

Just put the Metz 880's on at 10k on my scoot. Bike rides nice, a lot better than the stock stones which I will never put on the bike again. Can't say anything about wear, but I do like the handling. Gotta check if they are from brazil or not..hopefully not! We need more choices for the 1600's!

Metzler 880 Marathon Tires for the front
Hi
I have Metz on my bike...front went on late Fall...installed the rear April of this year...tires were made in Germany...front gave me 26,769 (could have kept it on for a tad longer but...) The rear had 28,619- all in kilometres. I am happy, & will stay with Metz. Front:150/80-16 Rear: 180/70-16 Just my 2 cents... Cheers Guy AKA Vulcanguy

Well I went ahead and ordered a Avon Venom from JakeWilson to put on the front end. I didn't have much time to get a tire as I thought my stock Stone was a little thin. Searched the Stone for the wear bars dimples and still had enough tread to feel the difference between the bar and the tread itself so if I can't get the tire on before to try and take off to Maggie Valley on Tuesday we will wait to install it until we get back butt if it comes in on Tuesday we will get it mounted and go Wednesday instead. I hope the Avon Venom is a good tire.
