A mixed feeling on my Birthday
Well, I turn 46 tomorrow with some sadness. You see about 2 years ago my brother died of esophageal cancer. We were his caregivers. He died about 4 weeks short of his 46th Birthday. He never saw 46. I can"t imagine life being over this young.

Sorry for your loss. Just remember the good times you had growing up together.
Like Ring said, Sometimes were dealt a lousy hand when we don't deserve it.

A mixed feeling on my Birthday
Larry,
It's not about how many years you live, but how you live in the years you have. Let's hope he made the most out of every song he heard, woman he loved, road he traveled, his family, and the people he called close friends. If he did that...he had a great life. God speed as you reach the milestone that he could not. Hope to run into you again soon.....maybe even on two wheels sometime soon, huh?

I'm sorry for your loss. My dad passed away in 1980 just 4 days past his 61st birthday. That was only 10 years older than I am today. I think about that quite a bit.

A mixed feeling on my Birthday
Sorry to hear that Larry. I lost my only brother in 1949. He didn't quite make it to his first birthday. I think about him a lot even though I don't have any memories as I was on two when he died.
Happy 46th Birthday Larry. I certainly hope it will be a great day for you.

Larry don't be surprised that most of us have felt your type of loss...
My mom died 15 years ago at the age of 65 on my birthday. Instead of being bummed out on my birthday I consider it an honor she chose that day!! Live out your journey....... nobody knows where it leads... enjoy it.......

Blowndodge,
I like the way you think of your mom's passing on your birthday and turning a negative into a positive. Good way to think of it. My dad passed three years ago and I sure miss calling his house and him always answering. I'd do anything to just be able to talk to him, one last time.

A mixed feeling on my Birthday
I am sorry to hear of your loss. In recent years I have lost both parents, but they were at an age that you might expect the end may come at some point. Life does not always seem fair and one must believe there is a reason for the things that happen in the grand scheme of life. Do enjoy the day for the both of you.

A mixed feeling on my Birthday
:( Sorry to hear about your brother, but happy belated birthday. My father passed away in 1978 less than a week after he turned 51. When I turned 51 I went out and bought a new motorcycle as a tribute to him and myself for having passed that milestone. To date I have outlived all of his brothers and I am only 58. AND, yes the memories are always there, even 30 plus years later. :)

A mixed feeling on my Birthday
Understand your feelings on this one. My father passed-away at the age of 47... I am long past the age of 47.
5-years ago my oldest brother passed-away at the age of 57... I am soon coming upon that age. It makes you contemplate life a bit more when these events happen. Make sure it motivates you to cherish each day, those you most care for, and what is most importnat to you. Then take the moment to live and enjoy it. In the end, it will always have been too fast of a journey. ;)

A mixed feeling on my Birthday
Went out to a very nice prime rib dinner with my wife and daughter. We talked a little about my brother. I realized how fortunate I am and how fortunate I was to spend the last couple of years with my brother. I appreciate all the comments guys. Not bad for a bunch of bikers :)
