Moving Up
This week I will be swapping my '08 Nomad for a 2011 Vaquero. Moving up, I hope, rather than just moving sideways.
So question: have you Vaquero owners found any need for a Caddmann-style mod to the Vaquero, and has anybody done one? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I've been on a Vaquero test ride and I think it will be a step up.

Congratulations. You moved up in engine size. It is really a sharp looking bike.

Will you NEED a more free flowing air intake? Did you really NEED one on the 1600 Nomad? Seems to me that most motorcyclist just want something to do to their bikes after a wile and that tend to be one of the common mods. A stock Nomad will exceed 100 mph and beat most cars off the line, so I don't really see it as being a need.. jmho.

congratulations on the new vaquero, I love them, if it wasn't that I was planning on trying to buy a new home this year I would probably buy one.

Was the Caddman mod and TFI "needed" on my 05 Nomad. I would say yes. The bike ran better, cured the stumbling and gasping on
1st to 2nd shifts, and cured the occasional stalling and pinging. Was it absolutely necessary, no. It did make the bike safer and more fun to drive however.

From the title of your thread I thought you were buying a Harley Davidson.

Do you poke holes in your box for air to come in? Sounds like you need more oxygen.

I went from a road king to a Buell and now to a Vaquero. The Vaquero is a keeper. Just make sure the throttle cables are adjusted with no slack or you will get low speed fuelling issues.
