Loctite and brass?

I had to add a few washers between the upper bolt holes and the bracket on the batwing (to space it out) so I could fit my gauges. The bolt inserts are brass. Is there any reason I CAN'T use Loctite? With the brass inserts, I don't want to crank down too much on the bolts but it would be unsightly for the fairing to come flying off @ 70mph. Also, which is the more temporary Loctite? Blue or red? Again, because of the brass, I don't want to strip any threads if I ever need to loosen the bolts.

Don't see any reason you can't use Loctite Chris. Use the blue as it is less permanent. Red would make it difficult to remove.

It will work fine, use Blue loctite.

Blue is the medium strength stuff - and a touch of heat will kill the loctite and let it come loose...one of those small propane torches and a lick or two on the bolt...

I'm NOT licking any bolt especially after I've held a torch to it. Are you crazy?

I wouldn't put any heat near those bolts, the fairing is plastic and those brass inserts would get loose in a real hurry.

Just a little dab will do you where the nut and bolt will end up when tight. The blue should not need heat to remove.

I use blue loctite all the time and you do not need heat to get the bolts or screws undone.

You do need heat for the Red loctite.
