Grasshopper Backrest Nomad 1600 Mustang

Traded the '06 Nomad for the dark side and cleaning out the garage. A non-studded driver backrest from Grasshopper for a Mustang 2-up seat. New they are $90 plus shipping ($10) but could be yours for $50 shipped USPS in the US.

what is the differance between one for a mustang and one for a stock seat

The bracket would be shaped slightly different and the height of the bracket would be different, the passenger seat is not the same thickness.

looking at the site the back rest for stock seems to stick out over seat too much and the mustang one is in line with the back of the seat.

Not sure this helps, backrest in my Sig Pic is a Grasshopper on a stock seat on '06 Nomad.
