Radio
Does anyone have the Shark radio/speakers combo that mounts to your handlbars? If so, what is the sound like at highway speeds? Need some tunes while I ride....saw those on Ebay.

I have no idea if anyone here has that set up but typically that type of set up suck. bar mounted speakers just seem to be a bad idea in the end.
At best you can use them as a chick magnet in some parking lot. Of course that's just my opinion.

I've heard people really like them. Some say they can hear them at highway speeds, some say they can't. I guess it depends on the person and what they want to hear. I've been thinking about them also. But, I'm also trying to decide on going with a fairing and stereo set up in it.

Well the fairing is very appealing to me but the price isnt. The speaker set up on Ebay is anywhere from $70 to $200. The difference is the wattage of the amp unit.
Mac, are you trying to get me killed? Chick magnet? LOL! I dont think the better half would appreciate that.

I have a set on my Nomad. I can hear them at highway speed. A freind has the Kuriakan Sound of Chrome and says he cannot hear them. I have stock pipes with the baffles removed. The main thing to remember is the source of the music. MP3's and the like can degrade the volume. Also it depends on what kind of music you listen to. I am happy with mine. This is the second set I have own. The other set was on my old bike.

I have had the 100w shark system for about 4yrs and the amp finally played out. The FM volume at 85 with stock gutted pipes and an open face helmet was great. The MP3 player needed some help so I put 2 in line radio shack amps in the windshield bag and it did great at 85. I am going to upgrade to the 600w soon. The speakers are really water proof. Some complaints I have read were not enough bass control, it ain't a $500. system. Mine sounded fine. Instead of eBay, you can buy direct from Shark on their web site. Easier to deal with a problem and same price or cheaper, and good folks to deal with.
Thanks for your time.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the 250w system, and use the amp to run the Sirius app on my phone. I'll post pics and hopefully a video once I get it figured out...

I have the Shark 200w with 3in speakers. I am happy with them. I ride daily to work, with 15 miles one way being on I10 at 85 miles per hr, and can hear the music just fine. I use my phone to play Pandora radio instead of trying to use the amps radio. I liked it enough that I bought a set to put on my wifes bike (luckly she took off so now I got another bike to bob out!). But the main question, yep I like them and would buy them again. And the speakers are water proof, just not the amp.

I have a set of 100W on my Nomad. They sounded good at highway speed and I have Cobra slash cuts. I have only had them since this past May and the right speaker is blown. I need to replace the speakers and get an in line filter to counter the engine noise that sneaks in every once in awhile.
If all goes well I will have a fairing this winter and Ill mount the Shark speakers in the back for the wife to hear. She said she was unable to hear the 100W at highway speed with them mounted on the bars. All in all they were a good deal at $50.00 shipped from ebay, and served the purpose I needed for my trip.
