Louder pipes WILL affect the sound quality. This is more than just drowning out the sound. The sound waves of the exhaust don't always play well with the sound waves of the speakers. Sometimes, a louder exhaust (with a different tone) actually make some music sound better. Generally, with the loud, rumbling exhausts most put on their big bikes, it makes the music worse. You can see this if you have access to an oscilloscope. Bass has big sound waves which make the music sound fuller which is also why a big, open exhaust sounds so nice and rumbly. If those waves aren't in line with each other, you can hear the difference. All that doesn't necessarily mean you won't like the music with a fat exhaust but it's something to consider.

Personal height doesn't necessarily dictate what size windscreen you need. - You can be tall in the waist, or long legged, sit tall, or slouch.

My Dad and I are similar heights standing, but on our Nomads, I had my windscreen as low as possible and cut 1.5" off the height. Whereas my old man has his cranked up as far as possible. - And we both had the top level with our mouth, neither of us looking through the shield.

Now, on my Vaquero, I'm 6'1" with a 9" screen. The 9" works for me though I wouldn't go even a fraction shorter (that's what she said) .

I was just wondering if this is normal to everyone elses.

Yeah that is the AVC. It happens on all Vaqueros, the setting comes from the factory set at 3 out of 5, so you are right in the middle. I have mine on 5 so when I turn the volume up to 16 and stop at a light or something the volume drops to a level you can speak above with no problem.

As for the windshield I'm 6' and run a 16". I can set up straight and look over the top with the wind hitting my full face. I can set normal and have it just blow barely through my hair. If the weather turns wet i can slouch down a little and keep the rain out of my face.

You know, they make windshields you can raise/lower without having to buy a new windshield. They're a bit expensive but well worth it. Just push a button....like magic.
