When you Riser Nut Rounds off...

Sooo..I rounded off the riser nut and I realized the only way the new Phat risers were going on, I was going to have to take the Fairing off. Well...it is attached at only 4 points and takes a 112mm wrench. I slid the fairing forward and that gave me the access to the rounded off nut. It is. Also a 19mm nut by the way. Also I did loosen and move out of the way the blinker lights bar.

New Risers went right on and plenty of length. That nut is 21mm. Glad I made the mod, really makes a difference. As you can see by pics...lots of protection of the paint job....hope you never round the nut off...but if you do....

I can vouch for needing to protect the paint. The paint on the Vaquero is paper-thin, at least on the saddlebags. Now wishing I had a friend that did auto painting!

You are correct about the thinness of the paint. A real shame as the bike has a great look , but a hardshell bug could take paint off. Fortunately, I know how to get the parts off and plenty of shops around.....next winter !!!!

What size? You know that's like 4 1/2", right?
