land between the lakes

I am heading to Kentucky Lake from North Mississippi tomorrow. Thinking about staying at Dover Inn unless I get some suggestions or I don't make it that far. Its about 200 miles and I can't leave till after lunch. Then Friday I am going to ride north on The Trace that runs up the land between the lakes. Any suggestions on the area of a better/cheaper place to stay or things to look for on the ride will be appreciated.

I live in Clarksville, closest major city to LBL. Running the Trace is a beautiful ride, and the weather should be absolutely great for this time of year as well. Crappy timing, in that I've got a job scheduled that will take most of Saturday away, else I would join you. If you get tired of tranquil scenery and looking at bison, Clarksville can easily eat up a day, or swing over to Nashville - you can spend a week there, and only remember half of it!

Thanks for the info. Hate you are working I would love to have someone that knows the area. I talked my 10 year old son into coming along. He about wore off the reflection off the rear view mirror making faces in it and then he was making shadow animals. 200 miles is a long way for a him with no video game to play. We got a late start but made it to Dover in time for him to swim for a while before dark.
