Ahem....hi guys. How's it going? Just joined the forum and found this thread (which I now subscribe too - woohoo look at me go!) because, well, I live in Western Canada too. High River, AB to be exact. I am on my 5th Kaw - and finally back to the old soft shoe of the 1700 - a Vaquero this time. I wrote off my '09 Nomad (53000kms on him) - a self inflicted low side - anywhoo...I survived and was bit by the sport touring bug for a while. Got the '10 Concours the fall of 2012 and promptly lost it in the flood last spring. Boo. Replaced it with a '12 Concours - but I just could NOT for the life of me get comfortable on the bike. Alas - I sold it and nabbed this Vaq that was for sale. SMILED from ear to ear all the way home from Medicine Hat in the driving rain last Saturday! HA

I do a fair amount of riding - on my own, and with a group of women from Calgary - oh yeah - and hubby, too - when he stays on the pavement (GSA rider), which isn't often. I unfortunately won't be able to make Orofino, but maybe next year.

Will Howdy from B.C. I know the High River area pretty well, born and raised in Calgary.
To bad you can't make it to Orofino .. we need more Canuks !! I've tried many bikes too, and can't get find a more comfortable ride than my Nomad.

Why thank you, a340driver! Been in the area myself only about 17 years - hail from MB originally, but love it here in AB. God's country, as they say.

Maybe next time on the rally...

And to a340driver...Congrat's on retirement...dont clean out the garage...while you are out there you will find you need all that stuff --finally ! or at least have a glimmer of a plan on needing it ! ;>)

(today..I just hauled the recently replaced, "Kitchen Sink" out there...might set it up in there..some how...)

.....always nice to have new members join the Western Canada Region. Congrats on the new Vaquero. I've had to bow out of the National last yr. and now due to family issues have to pass on our combined rally in Orofino this summer. I'm hoping to make the National next yr. depending on when and where it's located.
Anyway,....welcome ....be sure to drop in on the new members pg. and introduce yourself, if you haven't already. It's a pretty good group we have here.
