The Vaquero from 2014 has ABS, but still no KAMS for the Vaquero in 2015.

It's cheaper too, as is the Voyager, but who the hell dreams up the colors schemes? Green with flames? Black? No creativity at all. At one time the Vulcan line stood on it's own, now it's devolved back into a value proposition for someone that can't afford a HD, Victory or Indian. JMO. As much as HD takes flack, they are always making improvements and off more paint options. I hoped to see more than I did, but it's like they are contracting as opposed to expanding. May be I am wrong, but when a company becomes too conservative in approach, decline becomes a self fulfilling prophesy, especially in this day and age where change and improvements happen very quickly. It took Polaris a little over 2 years to develop the engine in the Indians. That's very fast, especially considering the artistic restraints. It's an interesting commentary to say that the American Motorcycle companies are the most innovative in the cruiser market. Imagine what they could do in other markets.

Even the Honda F6B doesn't have ABS. Seems the Japanese manufacturers have become parsimonious.

It's Metallic Carbon Gray and it looks black in the photos.

Damn! Except for the flames, that was what I was going to do to my bike. All green. Now I have to come up with something to set it apart...maybe a big spoiler that doesn't do anything...

They probably realize a skilled rider can stop quicker and in a shorter distance without it
But we have discussed this before, carry on

In a perfect world with clean pavement and many tries. Throw in water, sand, other debris and poor pavement and the facts change quite a bite.

Yeah, but at least with HD, they don't use decal flames, do they? May be scott can answer that.

Not only does the Vaquero have decal flames, but they are clear coated, IIRC. That sucks. Can't even take them off.

I'd take the money I'd saved with the price drop, and spend a little of it at the paint shop? Having recently had repairs to my VV done at a very good paint shop, I've learned that clear coated decals give them no difficulty at all.

And I'd spend my money on something that's correct from the get go. I think that has happened to more than a few here as Scott AKA Cactusjack has alluded to Various Bagger Association. Understand I've owned 4 Kawasaki's before my current ride, so it's not something I am saying lightly. A toyota is a great car and great transportation, but it's not a BMW, MB, Audi or even Cadillac. My gripe is that they put all the tech and money into Ninjas and don't pass the tech to other bikes in their line up. They can do better.

I have never bought a bike that was perfect. I don't believe there is one built that is perfect for me. I look at every bike I buy as a starting point or a base model that I will modify to make perfect. I have also never bought a bike or not bought a bike because I didn't like the paint job. My '09 Connie was black, and a swore years ago to never again buy a black bike. The bike was so good, i had to have it, and black was available.

As bikes go up in price and features, I have higher expectations. I want the bike to be closer to "ideal" than if I had bought a $6000 bike. When spending 18K plus, the rules change, at least for me. I don't like black either and won't buy a black bike no matter how much I like it. I won't buy a bike that requires much more than $500 to correct ergonomic deficiencies. I won't buy a bike that requires spending a lot of my to make more power. The way I look at it, if I have to spend more money to make something right, I bought the wrong thing to begin with and I am willing to wait until I can get what I want.
