GPS What units will work?

Without spending all the cash for a new GPS, Does anyone know if you can use other GPS models that have the audio out along with the kawasaki nav cable connected to the vaquero audio system??
I have the older Streetpilot 2820 that the bluetooth is not working but thought that maybe it could be hooked up with the nav cable. Has anyone done this??

Thanks

I'm using a Garmin Nuvi 2595. If I'm riding with my half helmet I can just hear it.

I have a Voyager.....I use my phone with the aux jack plugged into the stereo. Then a ram X mount on the handlebars. There are several Nav programs that don't require a data connection...the maps are on the phone. I use Sygic.

No, the Nuvi series don't have the aux output port for the audio cable. I'm not sure but I think the only GPS's that have that port are the motorcycle units and they are too costly for me. I mostly only use it to locate my upcoming turns because I map out every long ride before I ever leave the house but the GPS is nice if you get lost or need to find out how close you are to the next gas station. Sometimes it's nice to be lost......

Thanks, I thought that with it plugged in it should work, A new cable is alot cheeper than a new GPS.

You are right, way to expensive. My old streetpilot is water proof, no external speaker, Not even a battery. Has to be plugged in all the time to work, but it does have an external audio jack. Looks like a new nav cable for me.

My TomTom Rider doesn't have an external audio anything. No audio jack and no speaker.

I have tom tom on my phone, very accurate, as has been said, the ram holder works great and you have lots to choose from or you can get a tank bag that is also water resistant in case you ride in rain, I don't but or try not to, I've been caught a few times :)

If you want to go the cheapest way without buying a gps unit. I recommend you trying this, I use my iphone 4S hooked to the auxiliary cable that charges the phone and I use mapquest app which transfer the instructions through the speakers while pausing the music. For Music I use Pandora which works with the skip or forward button in the bike. Gps works excellent even while keeping the phone inside the fairing pocket unless you lose the signal on the phone that then you got to navigate by instinct if you didn't print out the route on a printer!!! LOL

Do they have a GPS that you can see in the sunlight. All the ones I ever tried out on my bike are useless because when they get in bright light you can't see a thing on the screen. I like to look at them every so often to see the upcoming road names etc...

As long as the GPS unit is placed in the center of the handlebars I can see it all the time. I have mine mounted on the left of the handlebars and occasionally have issues with the sun.

Is this what we've come to? No more pulling over to read a map and trying to memorize the streets and turn directions? WTH? Absolutely ridiculous! Yeah, I prefer a GPS, my memory is shot, gone, missing, blank......what was we talking about?
