Almost lost my Nomad today
The wife and I were out enjoying the colors today when I came around a corner and had the tires begin to slide out from under me. The road we were on is a side road that does not get a lot of traffic. We came around the corner and there was some loose stone.
 Not a good way to take a corner.Fortunately, I was able to save it!  But it was quite the pucker moment!!!! The wife was a bit uncomfortable for the rest of the ride. Just a reminder that you never know what is in the road this time of year. Ride defensively and be safe!!!

Good to see you kept it up, around here we have to start watching for leaves falling on the roads, if they are a bit wet they too can get slippery as ice.

I took a ride through Oatman, Arizona this weekend. Route 66 from Kingman to Oatman is a two lane road with lots of 15mph turns, no guard rails and steep drop offs. I hit a patch of sand on one of those hairpins and felt the back of the bike lose grip and start to slide. Thankfully I was able to stand it up before I slid off the road. When we got to Oatman, the two guys I was riding with told me the same thing happened to them on the same turn! Could have been three bikes over the cliff!

Wow guys, this time of the year it does call for an extra need to pay close attention to the condition of the road. Around here the leaves are falling and the roadways stay damper a little longer. Everybody please ride defensively and safely.

Good to see that your experience and skills kicked in for both of you. Don't want to be reading about any more wrecks. In last six months I have been put to the test by suicidal deer, kids pulling out of a driveway on a four wheeler, and mis-judging a curve after a light rain. Slowing way down at any hint of danger ahead has paid off.

..In the Tall Pine Country...I have some nice 25mph curves for about 20 mile's+ as I head east up into the High Sierra's..But learned a long time ago that those pine needles shed year around..especially in the fall...and will gather on those curve's....I assure you all those things are as slippery as ICE !..and at my usual 35-40mph in those curves marked for 25mph....it's a sure as shit crash...then of course the god's that screw with me will make sure it happens to me on a right hand curve (tighter side)..with a big loaded log truck coming around in the oncoming lane....so I can slide right under that beast ! ...take care and enjoy the fall colors..but watch for leaves, and pine needles, on the curves !

Tar snakes in the summer heat are another concern. Lost my lane on a right hand curve and had to use the other lane(oncoming). Luckily, there was no traffic in it at the time.

Glad to hear the story and no one got hurt. Only riding for three years but that was my greatest fear, something like that happening with my wife on the bike with me.
