You don't need a diode tester. This is clipped straight from the Voyager service manual:

New regulators installed today and are showing min at 14.4v and max at 14.8v on hot bike at 3,000 rpm. Amp is performing great and not going into protect mode.

Yeah me too. What a huge hassle this was. Lesson learned. Just because a friend recommends a shop and they have great rates, doesn't mean they'll do good work. Look at the body of work and make the decision, next time.
