Vaquero running rough
Hi new to the forum, I just bought a 2011 Vaquero and went for a ride.
It has 25,600 miles on it and it was rough after at and after 2000 rpm. I checked the air filter and it had a mouse nest in it. I cleaned that out and put some sea foam in the gas. It ran much better today but still not as smooth as I think it should. I am thinking about checking the plugs, but not sure what else to do. Thanks Login or Register to Remove Ads |

If you found a mouse nest in the air cleaner then it is time to stop riding that new to you used bike and put it on a lift and get out the owners manual and factory service manual and complete ALL 12 and 24,000 mile services.
At the very least drain ALL fuel and begin with fresh. Simply topping off will not remove water and trash from the bottom of the tank. Where there was one mouse nest there are more. Or, they have left behind damage on chewed up wires, nests in the exhaust, under the seat, etc. Before you know it the bike will run better and you will both be better for the experience of getting acquainted with the bike.

Thanks for the advice I will do that.
The bike sat in a shed for this season and the previous owner replaced the air filter because the the mice had chewed it. It has been used this season but only a few hundred miles |

Seafoam, or any other gas additive in the gas tank will do nothing for the throttle body. A spray fuel cleaner of your choice may do wonders to clean the throttle body. Since he filter had been chewed through, its likely some of the debri from the filter or next is clogging the ports in the throttle body.

From what you've told us, change all the filters, fuel. Also, see if its Ivanized....
Make sure there isn't something plugging up the exhaust pipes....mouse nest. Use a few cans of Seafoam, as you were told. Clean and regap your plugs.... 9 times outta 10 its gonna be a corroded wire somewhere or gas system is gummed up....possible a tank vent, dirty injectors....maybe even a little of that ratnest made its way under a intake valve.... If no joy on the minor stuff....get back with us.....
