WTF Clean the pipes...

On my 19, I put on cobras. Well as you can guess I get the ol pop pop on decel. It has left a nasty dark "ring" on the tips of the left side only of my new pipes.(Weird)

I do plan on getting the Ivanization but until then what is the recommendations for cleaning this crap off. I assume it a carbon buildup of some kind.

And I did not want to just go diving in and mess the chrome up. I have searched and came up the following:

0000 and WD40
SOS pad and Lim-O-way
Carb Cleaner and polish
Magic Eraser
Oven cleaner
Copper scrubb pads.

And Simichrome

Anyone else have this issue and resolved it?

I have a chrome polish that I use. I have the V&H Twin-Slash. on the carbon buildups, I apply liberally, allow it to sit for a few minutes and then I wipe off, with a little elbow grease, and the carbon comes off with not too much hassle. sometime i need to repeat a 2nd time

I have been Ivanized and I get that on my left muffler also. I do not get any popping though. I use an SOS pad to clean it.

Interesting that it is ONLY on my left pipe.

So I take it that the Ivanization doesn't fix it. Not a deal breaker for me though

Voyager pipes, including slip-ons, are not true duals. The most direct route for the exhaust is through the right side pipe, so there's more heat that side... I'll bet that has something to do with it?

I used a Mr Clean Magic Eraser sponge on the tips of my Tri-ovals. That and a little soapy water took off all of the "exhaust dirt."

I have cobras and have ivanized and I get it on both mufflers. However the left side is always darker than the right side. An sos pad took it right off.
